Lyzzette Bullock is an Associate General Counsel and litigator for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. She represents Blue Cross in both federal and state courts as well as administrative hearings concerning a wide variety of legal actions, including ERISA claims, contract disputes, and bankruptcy matters. She also represents the company in government investigations involving regulatory and law enforcement agencies and provides risk-management advice to the business.
Prior to joining Blue Cross, Lyzzette was a senior litigation associate with Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. in Boston and Quarles and Brady LLP in Phoenix. She has experience representing clients in a variety of complex civil and commercial disputes in courts, mediations, and arbitrations in matters involving product liability, government investigations for health care entities, and commercial contract disputes. In addition, Lyzzette has defended clients in a number of professional negligence actions before administrative agencies and licensing boards. She has been recognized as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer Rising Star for product liability defense for the years 2017 and 2018.
Lyzzette is committed to professional and community involvement and has held positions as a board member on the boards of several organizations across the country, including in Arizona, California, and New York. In addition, Lyzzette has an active pro bono practice where she routinely represents indigent clients and local non-profit organizations.
Lyzzette served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Donn G. Kessler on the Arizona Court of Appeals, and, earlier in her career, as a legislative aide in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. She is a graduate of Wellesley College and the University of Michigan Law School.
Lyzzette has been meditating for over 20 years. She attended the Mindful Lawyering Retreat at the Garrison Institute in New York in 2015 and 2016, and is a member of the East Coast Mindful Lawyers group. In 2017, Lyzzette’s former law firm, Mintz Levin, partnered with the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society to create a mindfulness training program for the firm’s lawyers and staff. Since then, Mintz Levin opened dedicated mindfulness rooms in its Boston and D.C. offices for meditation and holds weekly group meditations open to all of its employees.
